Guardianship & Conservatorship – Description

If you have a special needs child, you’ve probably been told that you will need to obtain a Guardianship and/or Conservatorship status over them when they turn 18. Similarly, if you have an adult in your life who needs significant assistance due to a medical or psychological condition, you may consider filing for a Guardianship and/or Conservatorship.

But… what do those terms mean? What will your responsibilities be? What is the process like? Will you have to go to court? What do you have to prove to show they need a guardian?
